Who We Are & What We Do
At Hope Forward, we are dedicated to cultivating thriving communities in Compton, South Los Angeles, and throughout Los Angeles County. Our story is one of resilience and hope, rooted in the belief that transformation is possible when we work together.
We are committed to fostering thriving communities in Los Angeles County by embracing equity, wellness, and opportunity. Our mission centers on creating lasting change through housing justice, food security, education, and advocacy, all aimed at uplifting residents and nurturing spaces of healing and dignity.
We were proudly founded to confront the cycles of disinvestment, poverty, and neglect that have left too many families behind. At Hope Forward, we build from within one block, one home, one life at a time.
We focus on revitalizing underinvested neighborhoods through holistic, equity-centered approaches: safe and dignified housing, workforce empowerment, access to wellness, food security, and advocacy. Whether through pop-up programs, policy work, or community partnerships, Hope Forward creates healing spaces; physical and personal where hope can thrive.
At Hope Forward our work is centered around the legacy of Sandra Phillips. The fabric of our purpose is Sandy’s Place. It is not a destination, but a direction that keeps us trailing the path of change. It is the shared heartbeat of our programs, partnerships, and people. Together, we build new chapters of resilience, dignity, and opportunity grounded in legacy, led by love.

Mission
Our mission centers on fostering equity, housing justice, and food security while uplifting individuals through education and advocacy. We restore neighborhoods, invest in people, and reconnect communities to wellness, resources, and power. Our mission is to transform neglected neighborhoods into places of dignity, safety, and opportunity.

Vision
We envision a future where every person and every neighborhood has the chance to write a second chapter; one rooted in healing, dignity, and opportunity.
To us, healing means having the chance to build a new life in the community you call home without having to leave it behind. Dignity means equity where places like Compton have the resources, beauty, and infrastructure residents deserve and can be proud of. Opportunity means access the kind that bridges gaps, opens doors, and empowers people to make informed, forward-moving choices.
At Hope Forward, we build community by turning places lived into homes and homes into the foundation for what comes next. We see neighborhoods renewed from the inside out led by those who live there.
